Interviewing With Insight

Resourceful Approaches for Managers in a Complex Workplace

Professionals who need or want to refine their interviewing techniques will consider Interviewing With Insight a vital resource. OBJECTIVES

Interviewing With Insight will refine the skills of supervisors and managers in many interview situations selection, appraisal, disciplinary, counseling, and informational in today's diverse workplace. This program will provide participants with timely and practical interviewing tools that avoid costly misunderstandings and confusion. Participants will assess and demonstrate interviewing techniques that are mutually satisfying for both the interviewer and the interviewee.

• Gathering your material and arranging the proper setting for your interview

• Maintaining a professional image while projecting a friendly attitude

• Explaining at the start of the interview what you intend to achieve

• Helping the interviewee to relax and respond accurately

• Asking clear, pertinent, and open-ended questions

• Following established guidelines to ensure fairness and avoid legal problems

• Encouraging open discussion through active listening

• Concluding the interview in a positive, realistic, and gracious manner

• Recognizing the characteristics of a successful interview

• Making sound decisions that benefit you and the interviewee
